Anyone paddle a 2009 HUKI V1-X (New Version) yet?
If so, could you provide some impressions?
Thanks in advance,
B

I took the new V1-X for a week and paddled it both on bumps and flat water. If comparing to the older version, I would say this one is faster all around. With the seat about three inches lower, the ama in four inches, and a little less rocker, this boat moves very well. Sitting lower has its advantages, and I felt secure whether sprinting, riding waves or grinding at race pace. I also felt that I could hold seven easier with this boat, and had no problem getting there. It is a fun boat, and I can't wait for sprint season.

What does it mean to "hold seven"?

One more than six. I take it that he's referring to holding 7mph, but I'm sure that we can put some different spins on it.

I'm going to try holding seven at practice today.

Doesn't how many you can hold largely depend on your hand size?

That seems to make sense. Maybe I'll start out by just trying to hold four...

I thought it was holding a fresh 6-pack in one hand, while drinking a 7th beer with the other. It's 5 beers more than double fisting (no, nothing sick poops, just drinking...).

I guess I will never hold SEVEN!!
