Cartopping OC-2 question

Regarding a rack for a Stingray: I use a Thule J style padded Hull-a-port for my kayaks. Would this work or am I better off with the Burnham boat sling? My Epic 18 is pretty secure when I use the J style rack with bow and stern lines. Thanks for any help.

Getting the saddles as far apart from one another as possible gives a long canoe like a stingray 2 better support than saddles that are close together. The Burnham boat slings are an excellent way to go. If you have a short roofline , some people mount a ladder on the rack then pad it and mount thier boats on the pads.

Never totally trust your rack system to stay on the vehicle , its good cheap insurance to tie your front rack to the bumper or some other hard point.
