Eckhart

I miss his analytical posts and opinions ...

He wrote me a while back stating he was off the internet for health kine reasons .... Is this true ? .... or even possible ?

I have a bunch of info links I had wanted to send over but I do not want to have him fall off the wagon.

If any of you guys know him, please tell ( phone or face to face only : ) That I (we) are thinking about him here.

onnopaddle - not really 'health' reasons in the strict sense.

thanks for asking - yep, too much time spent - not necessarily on ocpaddler, but the internet is a thing that can occupy quite some time.

Many people are on facebook all day long - maybe that is ok - but, while entertaining, I think it is more often than not a waste of time.

I am just trying to escape this 'perfect' medium.

Current projects - I made some moulds for paddle blades - mineral casting, works well - but decided that it is not worth it - better to Cnc mill the blades.

I 'custom made' iakos - 8 oz each - that is the 'heavy' version, probably could make them at 6 oz each.

That is a weight loss of 1 1/2 lbs compared to aluminum.

I also want to change the iako attachment - I do not think that the carbon tube arrangement is necessary. My custom iakos are rather flat and can be mounted on top of the deck. This would simplify/spare a step in hull construction, reduce cost and weight by another pound or two.

Time to retire again ...

Seems like your are now addicted to the workshop Ecky ...hahaha. Probably not a bad place to be, i enjoy it too.

Hope you enjoyed your paddle with Clarkie at Kauai, i think he wants a Pueo now.

Cheers Rambo

I liked the Pueo Cecil but at 80kg my Pegasus "China Polly" is the girl for me. A big shipment of Pueo's hitting the Australian shores at the end of the year, will be nice to see them race against the other brands in our waters.

I was sitting on the pool deck after the World Challenge listening to Eckhart explain his addiction to the internet. I noticed he was quick to reply to this thread so clearly he hasn't been able to totally give it up. I told him I was happy to continue my addiction!@#$.

Nice to hear from you Ecky.

Clarkie,

That's why you call it an addiction ...

you realize it when you are tempted to watch the webcam on the Murray River to see if another time trial is going on.

Hey Clarkie,

you forgot to mention the reaction of all your ladies when you declared with great conviction " I am not addicted ... " ( big smile here )

Yes mate, they are on to me. Have to hide out in the attic to stay online and switch screens when I hear footsteps. Winter on the Murray so not much point checking out the cam for the time trial. You may see a six or two paddling past around 9am Australian Eastern standard time. Time trial will fire up again when we go to Daylight savings time next summer.

The boys got a buzz knowing we had an international audience. Hope you are enjoying the six man season. Our new club us kicking goals with 22 registered paddlers in two weeks.
