Goto spotted paddling dragonboat up north this weekend
I heard Goto and co. teamed up w/ the Oregonians to win the finals in the open division...if so, good job. The False Creekers are tough to beat in any kind of boat. An excellent paddling program you people (fuzehumor) have up there!

Yes they did win the open final with a 1.48 to FCRCC's 1.49 .Tough race but they had the power to make a move in the second half against FCRCC
The mixed final was a different story for them taking second to the very tough FCRCC ( national team ) who posted a 1.47 .

how the hell can you even see anyone in that vid?
#3 Mon, 06/22/2009 - 8:00pm
yup, thats totally him in the video. I'm sorry, but DBing is so lame in so many ways. Goodness.

Poops, DBing can be cool when done by cool people. Some DBers are very fast paddlers - even in one-mans. I have seen first hand evidence of this... And for the record, all the credit for assembling 20 outrigger paddlers into a kick-ass DB team goes to Mulu Tapasa from Kai Ikaika Paddling Club, out of Portland, OR. He's the man.

I guess you're right, anything's cool with cool people. Too bad I wasn't there, I'd make it cool.

That's what I was trying to say.

You people who build and market outrigger canoes ought to be doing some marketing to the DBing crowd and I DO mean crowd, HELLO, theres
thousands of new paddlers getting exposed to paddling sports for the first time through DBing and many of them like OC1sbecause you can paddle as long as you want on one side of the boat without switching. This is a HUGE plus for paddlers training to be DBers.

Man, check out the bow waves on those boats! And what timing they have to have, not Six as One but Twenty as One!
#11 Tue, 06/23/2009 - 3:30pm
Are mixed races considered to be important in DBing?
#12 Tue, 06/23/2009 - 6:39pm
Wonder what a dragon boat would be like on a Maliko run?
#13 Tue, 06/23/2009 - 7:06pm
Most, if not all, rec/comp teams concentrate a majority of their efforts on the mixed races - a phenomenon I felt was strange when I first started dragon boating.
