Go to www.hcrapaddler.com, they have results for every island. You can also look up the fastest times in each event for the whole season.

Mar it might be sad but things come and go in circles. regatta is a Long season and it seems that a lot of the big names are trying to train for distance. Their focus might not be on the regatta until they get the distance stuff figured out.

Mariano,
I understand your inability to follow the regatta season in Hawaii. This may be due to the reporting done by the local media following regattas. The local tv stations carry information on the regattas, as well as the newspapers.
These are covered in depth on all islands. Therefore, not much desire to pass on the news by the paddling community. Some associations have as much as 2000 participants.
When it comes to long distance, there are way fewer competitors, but everyone wants to know in the paddling community what the results were.
My opinion is this, regatta season has numbers and numbers mean people will watch tv and read newspapers. therefore information is easy to find in Hawai'i and perhaps the desire to post the results on OCPaddler is not very high.(Or they think about it while having a few Heinekens after the regatta and then foreget to do it!) When it comes to long distance in Hawai'i, coverage falls off because there are less competitors...The Moloka'i Hoe gets coverage because there are MORE competitors.

Hi there Mariano:

As has been mentioned above www.HCRApaddler.com carries results from all the regattas around the islands. These are usually posted the same day as the regatta. As wireless broadband access becomes ubiquitous they will be posted from the race sites.

Also, check out http://www.mokuohawaii.org/finishlynx for what, I hope, will be coming soon. Both OHCRA and MOKU use this camera system and the intent is to publish shots like these for each event. Hopefully that will spice results up somewhat.

If there are specific media outlets that you think would be interested in publishing HCRA regatta results, or linking to the HCRA website for results please let me know.

Jonathan

while regatta season is the topic of this thread, let's spice it up and take a vote: who thinks regatta season is a total grind and should be reserved for kids? all in favor, say "ay". AY! i know we've been down this road, but it's fun to hear people's restructuring plan...

How about this...... perhaps changing the format could make regatta a little more fun again such as,doing a rotation between the kids and adults. In other words, one weekend the regatta would only be for the kids and the adults would have a bye weekend. The following weekend it would be adults and the kids get a bye. Regattas would start at 9 and be done by 12:00.

Then on States day, all would participate like we all have been doing in the past ( hang all day ).
