Scorpius vs. Pegasus

Anybody got any insight as to how these two boats compare...flat water and surf.

Have heard that Pegasus is extremely manuverable...almost twitchy...Scporpius too?

Is Scorpius much bigger?

The Scorpius is small kine bigger. From an old guys perspective, I'm way happier in a Scorpius then I was in a Pegasus. The new seat is pretty rad also. You can stick all kinds of shit in the cut out. Geritol, Defibulator, small box of Extenz, you name it. Bai Kartlett's really out done himself this time.

I both and love both of them. im 5'-11" and between 185-190lbs. as everyone on the site who have paddled the peggy knows its a great boat in the flats its better than a scorpius. both are comfortable. on the peggy i have to run the iakos all the way out cuz i sometimes hit the ama if it is in all the way (gorrila arms). it is still stable with iakos out. on days with little chop both can pick up the little stuff but the scorp picks tham up a little easier because of its increased volume. medium wave conditions its debateable which boat runs better. its all in the experience of the driver. both link well with the peggy being more of a boat on crack when it comes to directional changes. scorp is a little more subtle but can change on a dime as well. i think the scorp. uses the energy of the wave a lot better than the peggy and can ride swells or waves until it basically disapears. on bigger days with the wind maxing out, because i am a little on the larger size compared to the spoken 170lb max on a peggy, if the drop is too steep i'll definitely bury the nose. however the scorp will take any wind swell or ground swell and stay right in the meat of the swell. its really hard to bury the nose on a scorp. i only do when i'm surfing it at a surf break. i still have both cuz its hard to give up a boat that kicks ass. i know there are a lot of OWL users out there but kai did build a couple of awesome boats.

Is there such a " height requirement " when looking into a oneman?

Kenny BAiley is a legend and knows his stuff. Heck he is with Outrigger senior masters and their team is kicking butt.
Pretty much go with what is comfortable. Pegasus good for probably paddlers 170 lbs or less, very responsive in the surf. Scoprpius loves the big stuff but seems to do well in the flats. I think it takes a strong stroke but Kenny and others say it takes a finess stroke as they found they can try too hard and the canoe slows down, but go easy and canoes moves. Pretty much the paddler as with all canoes. Seen some small guys on the Scorpius on Maui who kick butt on it but then they have a solid stroke. Go with what feels best to you. Scorpius, Pegasus, Pueo, whatever. Go paddle, have fun - main thing!
