Vantage Full Throttle - Ultra Light question

Howsit...recently demo?ed a Vantage FT Ultra Light. The website says the hull weighs 20lbs but when I stuck it on a scale, it came out to more like 22lbs. Is the website?s stated weight without paint, pedals, rudder, bungee storage, seat, etc? Is there another way to verify if this is an 100% carbon fiber Ultra Light? Mahalo in advance.

I might have answered my own question. There are some rock chips in the front of the hull. So I looked closely in the sun and saw some black carbon fiber underneath. Guess that means the weight stated on Pineula?s website is the hull weight without most of the hardware, seat, maybe even paint.

well you have to think too that the boats are fully custom so they are bound to be a little different from boat to boat but 22 pounds is still really light

When companies quote weights there should be an agreed upon standard of what includes. Is it a totally bare hull, does it include seat, rudder, cables, plugs, foot peddles, etc. To me it makes sense that quoted weights are of the canoe the way we paddle it, complete with everything. There will still be some variation, but at least you'd be comparing apples to apples.

Totally agree with Jibofo. Bare boat but as paddled. .... Anything else is a scam.

A better way to list weights is in a range with an explaination of each.

The more the buyer knows, the happier they are.

NOT bashing the above canoe 'cause it could be a different layup, different scales, a little moisture inside etc.

"I stuck it on a scale, it came out to more like 22lbs."
What is the margin of error of the scale you used? What decimal point does your scale weight out to, does it weigh out to whole numbers, then round up? How did you weigh it? Was it on flat ground? If you're talking precise weight, you have to make sure its weighed precisely. Your boat may be 20lbs if weighed precisely.
