Everybody has the Forerunner 305 from Garmim. It says that it is water resistant but mine got broken 2 times!!! I don't know if I'm the only unlucky one with Garmim..... But I do like it!

I've owned three garmins (201, 301 & 305) all have ended up with some sort of complications. Two of them the enter button stopped working and the older 301 is hard to hold the charge (water corrosion). If you are lucky enough to have an REI (US) or and MEC (Canada) I'd buy one from there as they warranty all there items for life (past manufactures warranty). The new Garmin 310XT claims to be 100% water proof unlike the other models.

I do like the screen & features these Garmins provide and will continue to use the product. Hope to get my hands on the new 310XT (from MEC!) soon.

Cheers,

Bondy is in the states at the moment and picked me up a 305 for $140 US. Price so low probably due to the 310XT coming out. If your brother can get one that cheap it is a good buy.

I have been using the 305 for over a year now and LOVE it. I recently had it fail and felt lost without it. It was past the 1 yr warranty so it cost me $79 to return it in exchange for a re-furbished one from Garmin. Totally worth it.

Shop around on Amazon, etc, you should be able to find a good price.

Mahalo nui gange, what model heart monitor though?
the brand should be POLAR?

MAHALO ONCE AGAIN!

I think all the Garmin 300 series come with a built in heart rate monitor which is nice. If not, Polar is sort of the standard to which all others seem to be judged, but then you have two pieces of gear to buy instead of just one.

Hello Mariano,
I had a Garmin Edge 305 that comes with heart monitor and works good
It's waterproof but you can use with those sealbags
It also has a support that you can put on the front yako
Mahalo
Alex
