"Paddlers complete quest of 60 miles" - Florida

The Article says twelve outrigger paddlers prove early Floridians could have traded in the Bahamas. I not sure I see the connection between the twleve person outrigger team and abiltiy of pre-Columbian Indians of southeast Florida to paddle that distance for trade... But intersting still. Good job to those paddlers, it could probably be a fun race.

I really hope they make it an annual OC6 race and maybe even OC1 some day. It'd be great for us southeast paddlers.

I know this is late response but I just joined. This sounds like a possible ECORA equivalent of Molokai'i. I would love to do a race like that. I don't think ECORA has enough support to organize a race like this. I would love to see something like this develop. It would bring more exposure to our sport. Maybe I'll attend the ECORA meeting this year or 2004 and mention this race.
