oc-2 reviews

I am looking for an OC-2 for recreation & some racing.

I live on the Gulf of Mexico, so light to moderate wave conditions are prevalent. (Unless there is a hurricane).

Anyone have experience w/OC-2's? (info is hard to come by).

Which models you would recommend?

Thanks,
Hop

I would recommend the waveblade. It is the only two man that I have paddled but I really like it.

i'd go with the waveblade also, the thing can surf really really well.. i have no experience with the stingray 2 man though, i hear thats pretty good. The honu is a little cheaper than the others (i think) and can be an awesome canoe. And the Tiger 2... ive seen one of those thats like 25 lbs... HA, its a hard decision. If there's a lot of surf i'd go with the waveblade, and if its flat go with the tiger 2. The only problem i have with the waveblade is that the quality is not always 100%, at least when i got mines a lot of people were having problems with them taking on water through the foot peddles, and mines took on water through where the iakos attach to the canoe, but besides those bad spots on the canoe, they seem to be pretty solid. I think the honu 2 mans are really well built also, i was on an old one practicing doing changes for our first time for the molokai relay and we got hit by a huge shorebreak that rolled the canoe all the way up the beach, and besides ripping the ama off and a couple cracks in the hull, there was no major damage, which i was impressed with. And the stingray, though i know nothing about it, im sure is well built and can surf really well... Anyways, to sum up my nonsense.... they're all awesome, and i think you'll be happy with any one that you get..

hahahahahah. luke your just saying that so no one thinks your "plugging a boat" like that one guy said when you started to talk about the pegasus.and how good it was. but the waveblade two man is definetly a good boat i like it very much. but its pretty much the only two man that i have ridden besides the honu two man that got washed up the beach because of luke and thomas.

Most of my outrigger paddling is done in various models of Huki OC2s, and I really like the boats. Beautiful and well built. Contact Jude, http://www.huki.com and check if he has a boat in your area that you could try. You'll like it.

I always weigh all the canoes evenly like that... which just shows that i would never plug a boat :)
