OC-6 Iron Race to be held on Saturday, 10/3/09 from Hawaii Kai to Keehi Lagoon (16 miles). Men/women/mixed crew categories. $240/crew pre-registration 10/1 & 10/2 from 4-7 pm at Keehi Lagoon Halau, $350/crew race-day registration. 1st 30 registered crews guaranteed t-shirts. Time: First Crews (60’s and 55’s) Start 8:30 a.m. Second Heat (50’s and 40’s) start 10 minutes later. Open crews start 10 minutes after that.
Cost: $240 per crew (pre-registration) $350 day of race (Entry includes lunch, entertainment, “beverages” and medals)
Categories: Men, Women, Mixed by age groups (60+, 55+, 50+, 40+, Open)
Trophy to first crew in each category (Men, Women, Mixed) crossing the finish line (regardless of age group or gender). Medals to first three finishers in each category. T shirts guaranteed to first 30 registered crews.
Coaches Meeting at 8:00 am. HCRA Waiver required for all participants.

Updated schedule!

The Sand Island race will be moved to May 29, 2010. Race course and location remain the same. Registration for this race should be up by Thursday April 29th. We will again feature a tiered race fee system that will depend on whether you need to borrow a canoe, will loan your canoe, or will have your own but not loan it out.

For this season anyone in attendance will be allowed to purchase additional raffle tickets for the prize drawings after the races. All proceeds from these raffles will go towards offsetting the cost of sending HVA's youth team to Tahiti for Hawaiki Nui 2010.

Events will get progressively longer in 2010. The season culminates with the Race Around the Hat which features a longer race course. There will be seasonal point totals and awards for the series winners so start practicing your V-1 technique! We will be updating the schedule with technique clinics that are open to all ages. Keep your eyes peeled for updates.

Also, be sure to come out for the PA'A races this winter and spring to enter the V-1 division.
