Thank you time keepers for the hard " thankless " job you all put forth on the results. I know it is not easy to put out the information as fast as you want to for those who were not in Kona to view, but I did like the posting of results not much after the last canoe came in. Great job!

I don't know about the last comment. I don't think there even was a Team Steine in 2008.
was it maybe just one division that they got wrong?

Plenty canoes in the Kane race got 5 minute penalties this year. I heard it was easier for the officials to write the numbers down of boats that hadn't crossed the star line, then those that were over the line! =)

Very sad news to hear about the tragedy of the trailered canoes off of Makaala and Q. K. Hwy. on Sunday My heart felt condolences to those that were involved. =(

what line?! the imaginary one that stretched for what looked like over a mile?

maybe a 4000' length of yellow nylon rope stretched between 2 boats on the water would
give ppl an actual line rather then 4 different opinions of where the "line" is.

what about floating buoys? for such a big race the officials should be more on it to help the
competitors out.

Jus' backpaddle!

20 feet at the start is not worth a 5 minute penalty ae? From our position, it was easy enough to see the official boats and flags on both sides to estimate if we were behind or in front of the imaginary starting line. I don't think there is any need to "barge the line" and be right on top of it. Let the officials get a comfortable line, keep track of the countdown, and be prepared to race! Makaukau!(?)
