HULA is not only my passion but it's my life. Part of my life is outrigger paddling. I love learning more in da hawaiian history and language. :)
Aloha, I'm originally from Koloa, Kauai but moved to phoenix, AZ (where I started paddling) and now I moved to Seattle, WA wit my adda half (Ray Plaza aka coronadv) to live life to da fullest and for a new change. Arizona is TOO HOT! I work for Seattle Mortgage Company who is now apart of Bank of America (starting June '07)- I tell you, dey going take ova da world pretty soon. LOL. I have one dog name Mahina. So actually my bf, me and my dog moved to Seattle from Phoenix and we DROVE all da way. And we're looking for a canoe club to join cuz we miss paddling, racing and da aftah parties! Hehehe. So hopefully we find one pretty soon to do something dis summer. Alohaz foa now \000/
1=My first paddling outrigger race was at the Kahanamoku race at Mission Bay, CA and I was in the Novice Coed crew. We took 2nd place! :) Dat was awesome! :)
2= My bf and I help start a new canoe club in Arizona (Ka Hui Hoe Wa'a Ha'aheo) and we finally got a canoe! We drove all da way to Petaluna, CA (past San Francisco) and back to Phoenix, AZ. We did a "traditional" hawaiian/native american blessing. Da reason why we also had someone do a native america blessing is because it was dea land. Now in Phoenix it never snows nor hail but dat day of the blessing dea was all kine elements- wind, rain, hail, snow, etc! We also had a ho'okupu which we gave to the land and there an eagle watching us do da blessing. Dat was someting I never going forget and was part of an accomplishment because I neva seen dis kind of blessing or protocal done dis way where you have 2 different cultures (Hawaiian/ Native American Indian) come together as one to bless a canoe.
