I know there is live broadcast, but it might go in and out depending on tech. It might be good to also post what we learn here.
I heard wind was starting to pick up yesterday afternoon. We will see.
Good luck and safety to all.
Does anyone know the final number of teams?

#23 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 10:21am
Early morning here in oz, just confirming that 3 tahitian teams in front, are they in front by a long way, and cannot get onto live feed, I gather its not happenning is that right ?? Thanks in advance if you can answer that.... Brad.
#24 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 10:40am
As far as I know - Shell, then a gap, then Primo, Occ, Lcc (in no particular order). As of 10:40am still pretty much the same as before but unfortunately the gap between the Tahitians has opened up more. On GPS the lead canoe is about 9 miles out from Diamond Head bouy. I don't know anything about '3' Tahitian crews but doesn't mean it isn't possible - the people I get info from can only see what they can. They can't see everybody.
#25 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 10:52am

I was told some shell paddlers who were not with the "A Team" were paddling in Primo canoe. Can someone confirm if it's true or just BS ?
#53 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 3:29pm
As far as I know its bs. I don't remember all the names, but I wouldve remembered if any where Tahitian. All Oahu, Maui, and a guy from Cali.
#54 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 3:32pm

#56 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 3:34pm
OK Thanks.
Did shell broke last year's finish time ?
#57 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 3:35pm
No. Slower this year (conditions)
#58 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 3:41pm
Hiro,
No new record. Newspaper says missed it by 1 1/2 minutes. 90 seconds. However worst conditions for record in last 4 years, so I think if same conditions as last year then they would have shaved another 4 minutes off of it. Meaning Shell was even stronger this year than last year.
Much respect to all of the Tahitian paddlers and Tahiti.
#59 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 3:41pm
Thanks.
Last question : was Paddling Connection far behind ?
#60 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 3:43pm
17.5min behind Shell Vaa
#61 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 3:46pm
Thanks for the info. Congratulations to all who crossed the channel today... It's so frustrating to be so far !
#62 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 3:49pm
Does anyone know how the Canadian crews did? I'm from good old Toronto, Ontario and we have two crews of local paddlers crossing the channel. Just wondering how they did! OPA and Paddle Sport Performance. Thanks!
#63 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 3:54pm
any more results?
#64 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 5:29pm
Congrats to Shell Va'a, Primo, and ALL the paddlers and support. Primo did Hawaii proud...
More pictures, video, and the article will be out by tonight on MaoliWaa.com
Will update.

#65 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 4:28pm
Anyone with final results ?
#66 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 7:27pm
Any more results? The womens had no live broadcast but results posted within hours of finishes. Mens race a live broadcast but no results. Does the no same jerseys affect the finish times, feels like a recap of Liliu race?
#67 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 7:41pm
Apparently there were some time penalties, so they are still adjusting.
So im guessin thats why it taking sooooooo long
#68 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 7:53pm
An interesting point looking at that photo of Shell is the size of the paddlers I bet that they were the lightest paddlers filling seats 2 and 3 in the top half of the race.
Obviously very fit with immaculate technique and timing.
They dont just pick the big guys first because they are big like a lot of other teams, and it seems to pay off.
#69 Sun, 10/11/2009 - 8:31pm
Wondering how Leonard's Team Pao Duce did? Any Super Bock importers or distributors in Hawaii?
