Jim, my perspective may have changed due to the fact that I helped make a human recently. But that was by far the best post you have ever made.

I've reworked this classic footage and made it available in HD. What amazing ocean and paddling skills this man has. When he winds up, the power is awesome to watch.

I'm kinda glad he had tight shorts on ... Might have been a bit messy up those trouser legs.

Nekine: Trouble is there are no bumps out on the pond, so gave this up over 20 years ago when I'd paddle my Reverie sport's canoe out by the Ala Wai boat slips and in the Kaiser Lagoon. Originally called "Sports Canoeing" by Patrick Moore, the former jr. National high knee C-1 paddler who created this style of paddling. You can probably do some of the maneuvers on your OC-1 by just taking off your rudder and using a double face straight shaft paddle and practice in flat water. Then go jump in a V-1 and blow everyone away with your tighter turns around the buoy and newly acquired paddling skills.
ps: and don't forget to wear a silk shirt.

thanks for that Cortes footage, hadn't seen that.
Lately I've been addicted to the Billabong XXL nominees, some of these waves are utterly amazing, I keep going back to watch them again and again.
my fav's right now:
-Nate Fletcher at Teahupoo: don't know how he survived- think he might win
-both Kohl Christianson's waves: both in Chili and Fiji he paddles into waves previously reserverd for tow-in only
-Jamie Sterling at Cloudbreak: looks like a 50' reeling barrel he effortlessly pulls into there
check it out, six pages worth of BOMBS

what a tough call these judges are gonna have...
whatcha think- are the below sea level Tahitian tubes more impressive than towering Cloudbreak grinders?
