Brief updates of day 1 from Danny Ching

Had the 1st day of racing. Today started out foggy, then got sunny and hot, then windy, then thunder stormed. Luckily Tyson and I got to race in the windy conditions right as a thunder storm passed over and dumped on us.

Tahiti, New Zealand, and Hawaii, are killing it in every race, and in every division. California's getting mopped!!!!!!!! We have only senior masters men and a lot women who are here for the party representing cali. I cracked my XP blade at the start of our Double hull race this morning and we ended up DFL. Needles to say I'm using that as motivation for my V-1 races. I broke off the T-top to my mudlite in practice yesterday; so sorry dad but it looks like I'm borrowing a Makana Ali'i to race with until I can fix one of those paddles. Should be good by finals.

I won my V-1 Heat today but I drew an easy heat. I head straight to the semi-finals on thursday and don't race tomorrow (wednesday). Tyson drew a killer heat, (Foti, 2 tahitians, 2 fast new zealanders) and tied for 6th with Foti. Foti got the tie breaker and goes to the quarters while Tyson gets to race in the consoles for a chance at making the quarters tomorrow morning. He should be fine, but he's super bummed still. All in all, it was a pretty good day.

I'm off tomorrow so I'm gonna get some practice on the V-1 in and watch Tyson race. Then go surf. I'll keep you guys updated.

Danny
