Brief updates of day 1 from Danny Ching

Had the 1st day of racing. Today started out foggy, then got sunny and hot, then windy, then thunder stormed. Luckily Tyson and I got to race in the windy conditions right as a thunder storm passed over and dumped on us.

You sit on the starting line off of Kaluakoi trying to calm your mind down and prepare for the start. You have prepared all year for this day and as you sit on the line trying to make out the faint outline of Koko Head in the distance, you attempt to imagine what the next five hours has in store for you.

Sailing with the Hawaiki Nui Va'a Race - Tahiti

The Holopuni Adventure continues...

This year Team Holopuni was invited to return to Tahiti by Stephan Lambert, who has 3 Holopuni Sailing Canoes there that he currently charters out of the Meridian Hotel on Bora Bora.

Our big opportunity was to sail along with the Hawaikinui Marathon Canoe race. This is the biggest marathon canoe race in the world. It is an incredibly spectacular and challenging outrigger marathon event.
