Murray dominates the second Budlight warm up race May 12, 2006!

First, a big mahalo to Budlight (Bae, Steven, and James) for their $1500 in cash prizes for the 2 warm up races. Paddlers had a chance to stand out individually before Saturday's relay race. Mahalo to Jimmy Ledward and Sharky Aguilar for escorting and Tom Bartlett's gang for keeping time.

The second Budlight warm up race was held on Friday May 12. Paddlers were treated to great conditions for an east side race from Wailua to Kalapaki Beach. Winds were from the northeast at 15 knots making it a little more challenging than the previous day, but times reflected a favorable current with the top 3 finishers under 1 hour.

Mike Murray dominated the second warm up race as well. Greg Long was a strong second with Butch Keahiolalo in third. About 15 paddlers showed up to preview the first 2 legs of the Expedia.com Kauai World Challenge Relay which is to be held the following day. Some paddlers opted to race unofficially just to check out the course.
