Ask ocPaddler: Considering weight/size in boat purchase?
Filed in
An anonymous reader asks: “When choosing an oc1 should the weight of the paddler determine the type of boat to purchase. What type would a 6’3” 240 pound male consider ????”

I would probably stay away from small boats like the Hurricane, a great boat, but uncomfortable for a person your size..Although you do see guys your size using them..
where do you paddle? that might be something to consider

I agree that the Hurricane lacks the volume for your bodyweight. I am 6’7 215 and have had great results from the Makia in flat water and like the Stingray in the surf.
