Toronto Harbour International
Challenge
July 08 / 09 2006
This two day event challenges an international field of outrigger canoe, kayak, and surfski paddlers in both sprint races and a 23km+ course around Toronto Island.
In 2005, over 70 competitors, including 8 former Canadian National paddling team members, participated in the inaugural race hosted by the TSCC Outrigger Group. This year, the outrigger clubs from across the Greater Toronto Area including Fairport Aquatic Club, Toronto Outrigger Canoe Club(TOCC), Toronto Sailing and Canoe Club(TSCC) Outrigger Group, and Wai Nui O Kanaka Outrigger Canoe Club, are joining forces to host an international event. Over 150 participants are expected to attend the two days of competition including top Canadian paddlers plus crews from Washington, New York, Hawaii, and New Zealand.
We welcome all paddlers to participate in the races which will challenge competitive kayaks, surfskis, plus single, two-person, and six-person outrigger canoes.

On behalf of Jim, myself, KIOCC and all of Kent Island Yacht club, we would like to say "Mahalo nui loa" to everyone who came to help make the 6th Kent Island Cup a huge success.
Once again, we had brave campers who endured a tough storm, but thankfully it was safely after the race, the party wasn't dampered and the OC1 relays went on as planned Sunday a.m.
We hope everyone arrived back home safely, and again we say.....Mahalo!
Aloha, Deb Hall --- KIOCC

North East Outrigger dominated the 2003 7th Annual Liberty World Challenge taking first in Women's and Men's Open and the Sr. Masters divisions. Europe was well represented with a strong showing by France, Germany, and the UK. Washington D.C. won the mixed division with amazing stealth moves between pylons and under piers to snatch the gold away from New York Outrigger. The full race results will be posted shortly.
