Right on Keauhou men. Pretty good considering half of them paddled the 12 miles to the race that morning.

Why would they have wanted to paddle 12 miles before the race? No trailor? Maybe took the competition too lightly. That is what I like about regatta and long distance season, there is a difference and it shows.

Maybe they are just trying to take something else very seriously?
#3 Thu, 08/20/2009 - 6:23pm
Anykine, I don't really understand. What do you like about regatta and distance season?
#4 Sat, 08/29/2009 - 5:40pm
forgive me if i'm stating the obvious. but i think regattas are short and distance is long. right?
#5 Sun, 08/30/2009 - 12:14am
Besides being long it is interesting to see crews who do well in regatta racing seem to not do well in long distance racing. They tend to loose to crews that they had beaten in regatta racing.

That's interesting. I'm probably wrong, but from what I've seen I thought that everyone's been coming in relatively the same order as regatta season (give or take 2 places). Except for Keahou in this race, but I would think that a 12 mile paddle beforehand would tend to do that.
But it will be exciting to see how the season progresses.

anykine you should know that keauhous 2nd open crew is almost entirely made up of novice B's.
i have to say your theories are pretty much "anykine"

That is exactly the meaning behind the name, anykine. Just make anykine. I noticed that you were looking for the results of the Waikoloa race. Were you on one of those crew who might be in my " theories " of finish. BTW, was it Keauhous novice B crew that did the 12 miles paddle before the race and finished 3rd overall? If so, it kinda lines up with my theory.

it was a mix of novice and open that paddled the 12 miles to the race. keauhou did the same thing before kailua regattas.
its all training for the big races that are now upon us
