Hoe Waa committee who organized and staged the Kauai World Challenge this past weekend are to be applauded for putting on a terrific event. From the pre race fun run Thursday, the great prerace dinner and packets, the blessing the day of the race by the Puuwai Keiki, the mayor's presence, to the great lunch after the race, Kona Brewing Longboard beer that never tasted so good, the entertainment and the generous cash prizes for the division winners, WOW, a great event! Weather could have cooperated better but the scenery was great. The change points were exciting for the spectators, the Tahitian drummers made it even more fun and Chuck from the Marriottprovided great refreshments and fresh fruit. The escort boats and lifeguards on Jetskis were very helpful but I would have enjoyed more wake help. Kai and Kai were impressive- by my watch -Kai Chong increasing the spread by about 4 minutes on leg 4. Fun races in the mixed with Jody and Krisitn having a great match with Mark and Alana. Ladies had a good race with Jane and Robin holding a lead over Noe and Hoku. Also impressive, the video trailer is already up and the results are posted. Great job and Mahalo to everyone who worked hard to put on a great event Kauai can be proud of. Russia, French, Canadians, Aussies, Calif, Chicago, EAst Coast and from each major island in the State of HAwaii- good participation. Good luck to those people doing MoloRelay- hope you get some wind!
