Mooloolaba's Honolulu Star Bulletin story

Ron Grabbe forgot to mention that while they were making history with the nine molokai wins in the Jr masters division from 1994 that not all of the paddlers on thoughs crews were Aussies. They had to use so called, Quality paddlers from Hawaii to complete their crew. Now they want to be the new wave of quality paddlers and make history in the senior masters division. Well, check this out...in their first win as senior masters, they had to use a paddler from Hawaii. A steersman. Shame on you! Where is the pride of representing Hawaii.

Almost 5 years(member on this site)...and finally getting canoe

long time but maybe appreciate it more?

Boat's "on board" transport

First canoe is on its way here to "bayou country".
I understand it's one used by a team member out in SoCal so "she's" at least an "experienced" little craft.
(Not just huli'ed alot...but with "gusto"!) This has been a long time coming, too. First started 'looking into this stuff' years ago but just was not ready to commit the money needed to try it out or shoulder the extra ship costs.
Not just waiting for boat to make its way around the route to here!

Long distance season is here!

Loving distance season this year. I just love to paddle. The feeling I get in the boat, paddling for hours (you know what Im talking about) when you get that rush or that second wind. So much to love about paddling. Being in great shape, eating healthy, drinking choke water!! Paddling gives me a reason NOT to go out to the bars at night and get tanked. Paddling gives me a reason to get up early and do something incredible with my life.
Thats why I love distance here in Maui. Im seeing all kinds of the island from an OC. I love everything about it. The community, the support, the friends and ohana. The spiritual side I feel thinking, "Wow the ancient Hawaiians did this as their primary mode of transportation!" And they didnt have camelbacks, sunglasses, carbon fiber blades or SPF 50. Amazing to me. It never loses its appeal.
Still looking for a one-man to buy! This is only my second year paddling and Im ready to buy my first OC-1. Having trouble finding one out here. They get sold as soon as they get posted it seems. Had 2 guys sell their Hurricanes from under me AFTER they had promised to let me come by and see them. Oh well, tryin to stay positive. Hope to get one soon. Meanwhile Im trying to stay hydrated for tommorow's relay race. Gonna be a hot one!
