How does one go about selecting the " right canoe " for purchasing? With the many types of canoe that we see on the water every weekend, it's hard to tell which one is the best one. For instance, the Hurricane. It's design were meant for the smaller and lighter paddlers ( anything below 5'5 or weight anything less than 160 lbs. so I heard ), but I have seen much bigger individuals who are WAY much taller or Way much heavier than the suggested requirements, but they are able to beat that myth and perform at a very competitive level.
Also, I know that those who finish at the top of any oneman races, your TEAM riders, all ride very light and stiff lay-up canoes that weight at 20lbs max. SO, What is being sold here? Is it the canoe or is it the weight?
The Island of Maui, It's an Hurricane canoe Island ( look at their results ). What is strange is Kai resides on Maui and one would think that his sales there would go up. But, for some reason, Maui is a Hurricane believer.
I do understand that good smart training is the key element to good racing results.
