garmin forerunner 310xt vs...

Folks,

I have been using a garmin forerunner 310xt for a few years now. I bought it REI because, after reading about the 310xt on this site, I believed that the "waterproof-ness" of the unit would wear off ;-0. Sure enough, over the 3 year period, I have taken the 310xt back to REI for 2 replacements.

Seeking advice on upwind on high frequency wind-powered waves Bay Area, California

Seeking advice on upwinds:

On the windy days, the bumps I paddle in the Bay Area (California) are no more than 3-10 feet apart from each other and have a very high frequency of hitting my boat while going upwind. Vertically they range from 1-3 feet. I want to ask for opinions of paddling upwind on water that is strictly windpowered. I do not have much experience on "swells." The craziest day I went out had 30mph winds with bumps that were about 3-4feet high and huli'ed 3 times as it picked up my ama.. It was pretty scary when the waves + wind comes from the front left.

Iako frozen in sleeve

Trying to get my OC1 back in shape...

Any new ideas besides cutting out hull sleeve to remove frozen Iako tubes?
Where can I get the carbon sleeves to lay into hull after cutting out?
Anyone know a good aluminum fabricator that can make me new Iakos?
Where can I buy seat foam?

Constructed with douglas fir wood, carbon fiber, fiberglass, and epoxy resin. External coating is single phase polyurethane PPG coating. Design features light weight aluminum Iako. This unique design favors flat water conditions but has design features that allow it to perform in surf conditions as well.

It is possible to rack this canoe with a minimum span of 9 feet. I have driven with it on my truck rack with no problems.
