Looking to Paddle on the Big Island

I'm a So Cal paddler who will be in Kona on vacation October 4th-11th. I'd like to get some paddling in while I'm there so I'm looking for a club that will accept guest paddlers. I realize this is Molokai time so it my be tough to find an open practice. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

Kona - Queen Liliuokalani Race update

Those teams planning to participate in Saturday's long distance race sponsored by Kai Opua should note that the small beach that is part of the National Park at Puuhonua O Honaunau will be closed to canoes this year because of sand erosion and exposed iwi (bones). Those clubs that have previously used that area as a trade off point for their women's and men's crews should make other plans.
Thanks

Tahoe Criterion

Hey all,

I'll be headed down to the Tahoe Criterion over the holiday weekend. Any good camping spots or cheap hostels? I'll be bringing OC1 but its a bit of a heavy boat so if anyone knows of an OC1 that could be loaned instead that would be very appreciated. I will even bring and share some of our famous Oregon beer. :)

Also if anyone needs a Masters Male for the OC6 races I'm game for that too. Leave me a message here.

Aloha,
Joel

Paddler looking for a Crew for Molokai Hoe 2007

I'm going to be in Hawaii for the Molokai Hoe. I'm 45 years old, 6'4", just under 200 pounds.

Have paddled for over 10 years. Did Molokai last year for first time with FCRCC B crew. Have raced lots in Canada, plus Catalina. Able to sit any seat if I had to. Probably best in 3 or 4 (they require the least amount of thinking)

I'm also going to be in Australia before that, near Caloundra, and I'll be looking for a club to train with there.
Any help would be appreciated. I can provide references if required, though most will be from my Mother.

What is Dragonboating? It's like a cross between canoeing and crew, but in these giant twenty man fiberglass boats. This is us in Montreal pulling out a narrow win (we're in lane one):
