Carbon Wave Blade for Fitness / Recreation - Bad Idea?

I'm a novice paddler on the North shore of Maui. I want to buy an OC-2 or an OC-3 to use with friends to spend time on the water and stay in shape for surfing over the summer and maybe try fishing. If I lived on a lake I would buy one of those plastic canoes at Costco but I figure I need something a little more substantial on account of the overhead windswell here.

I'm not keen on racing and I would say that looking after fragile sports equipment is not one of my greatest strengths.

I have the opportunity to buy a used carbon Wave Blade OC-2. It seems like a nice boat but I get the feeling it might be a little too racy for a casual user like me. If anybody has some advice, I would be very grateful.

Best way to attach a Forerunner 305 GPS to my boat

Just wonder if any of you could share methods you've used to mount a Forerunner GPS watch to your boat. It needs to be mounted on an angle so I can read it. I'd still like to use it as a watch for other sports (meaning I don't necessarily want to remove the straps every time). It's being attached to a Fusion. I was thinking of attaching it to the ridge between the footwells.

My next question is going to be how would you recommend I have the chines removed from my boat. After the latest discussion, I've just been blaming them for me being slow.... Just Kidding! I love my boat. Solidly built. Beautiful. And I know that at least the boat is competent in big waves - even if I'm not.

Best glue for closed cell foam (oc-1 seat)

I did the search and recommended glue (rubatex glue) was nowhere to be found at home depot, and the clerk did not know what is was. I was going to get some 3m super 77 spray adhesive but I figured I would ask. I am glueing a thin layer of foam to the bottom of my seat and then glueing the velcro to that new layer and velco to the boat (which has alread come off after 4 months)

Thanks for a recommendation

Mana Paddles

Anyone know how to get in touch with the owner of Mana Paddles? I live on Oahu and am trying to get a couple of the paddles but cannot find any on the retail market. . .

OC1 cleaning and polishing materials?

I own a 3 yr old Chinese made Pegasus that I want to keep as fresh looking as possible. While at present I clean my boat with a mild dishwashing detergent, I find it doesnt work well on the frequent oil stains from the gross waters out here. Also, there appears to be a bit of yellowy deposits forming on the body that don't seem to come off. Is there anything stronger I should use and is there a good after-cleaning polish/protectant I should wipe on the surface to help prevent future "mold" growth?

Paddle Racks

Well, it'll be regatta season in another couple of months. Last year, I recall seeing a number of clubs with racks that they hung their paddles from, keeping everything organized, & the paddles off the ground. My club was kinda small, and we didn't have anything like that. And it was my first season, so I was kinda overwhelmed with everything. I didn't examine them closely, or take any pics. And now I'm kicking myself for it!

So. Has anybody seen racks like these? Got any diagrams or jpgs that they like to share? I'd love to whip something up that's get our paddles up off the ground, & out from under foot.

Tahitian Paddle Question

I have enjoyed trying different paddles and seeing charatcteristics....the zre powersurge blade seems to slip into the water so well and when you pull it is stable, while other paddles want to zig zag a bit. The large surface area paddles are really torque the smaller ones easy to turn over fast. Longer shaft feels better I have been warned it will screw up my shoulders.

I think I am doomed to collect a few paddles. Looking for a paddle with a really large blade face (like 125si) with a double recurve like you see in the new zeland and tahitian boats. Are any paddles like this available?

Anyone in california cut a custom blade? Fun stuff.

Thank you for any reply.

canoe advice...

Howzit.. I am just getting off a year's worth of rehab for my back, and started paddling again using a friends canoe.

I am wanting and ready to buy my own canoe now... Any suggestions of a canoe that I should look into getting?

I am 5ft8in 175lbs, and probably looking for a canoe that I am able to adjust seats with for more support.

Mahalo plenty for your help!
