Today the 23rd Annual A.J. McDanold Race was held at Keauhou Bay. This event is traditionally an OC-6 long distance race, but since this year our traditional date of the first weekend following the HCRA State Championships was taken by the IVF World Sprints, it was decided to still hold the event on a Sunday, and to feature OC-1 & OC-2 canoes. The participants all received T-shirts and lunch, and top three winners in each division were presented with medals.
Paddlers on the short course raced 4 miles from Keauhou Bay to Kahaluu and back. The long course was 7 miles from Keauhou to Banyan's and back to Keauhou Bay.
