Kai Wa’a & Haleiwa Joe’s Kualoa Challenge
Kailua to Kualoa

  • Saturday February 1, 2014. 10:00 a.m. start
  • Pre-registration: $28.00 at Foti Paddlesports store in Kapaa Quarry until Thurs Jan 30, or $30.00 online at www.flpregister.com until midnight Jan. 31.
  • Late registration on race day: $35.00
  • Race day check in at Kailua Beach: 7:00AM-9:00AM

Divisions: OC-6, OC-3, OC-2, OC-1, Surfski, SUP, Prone paddleboard, V-1
Long course: 12 miles. Kailua Beach to Kualoa Beach
Short Course: 6 miles. Heeia Pier to Kualoa Beach. Weather pending; either out the main channel, left on the head buoy and outside Kapapa Island to Kualoa, OR inside the reef past the Sandbar, and to Kualoa.

This race is sponsored by Kai Wa’a Canoes and Haleiwa Joe’s Restaurant, and will include prizes from Mac 24/7 Bar and Restaurant, Scott Hawaii slippers, Aloha Gas, Riviera Paddlesurf and Maui Jim Sunglasses. Plus gift certificates to Haleiwa Joe’s and swag from Kai Wa’a. At the end enjoy lunch from Haleiwa Joe’s and cold Cerveza Pacifico!

PA'A PINKYS race

Latest wind forecast shows possibility of getting some downwind on the original course from Makai Pier -- so we'll try it. To make things safe and simple there will be one course from Makai Pier to Kailua Beach Park -- Medium Course. Those who registered online for short course will start first and long course entrants will start 15 minutes after.

*** Registration and check in at Kailua Beach Park 7:30-9:00am. Starts 10:00 and 10:15

Lunch, awards, and after party featuring live music to follow at Pinky's Restaurant. Please join us even though we finish at Kailua beach Park.

Fantastic 1 year old OC1 Zephyr - Purchased October of last year used lightly. Stable Carbon fiber / Kevlar construction making it both strong and light. Assisted foot well venturi drains - removable foam seat, aluminum iakos - Custom two color design.

The ZEPHYR is Outrigger Connections OC-1 and is recommended for 160- 200 plus pound paddlers.
