We had some issues with DLNR regarding the water permit for Kailua - Kualoa. So we defaulted the race back to
Hawaii Kai - Sand Island. Now, all of the sudden, the Coast Guard says we cannot cross the mouth of Honolulu Harbor! We are working on an alternative plan with the same start locations, but until we know the final decision tomorrow (Friday) from the Coast Guard, we cannot confirm yet the finish. I'll post again tomorrow so stand by.

Although very far away, now that Karel Jr. is getting back into shape, the question comes up who does he steer in Molokai or during the season?

My guess is that he will steer Outrigger in a M2. Outrigger is still pushing huge miles in their offseason program and building, building, building.

Obviously Outrigger Connection needs to get the M2 on the podium with a local crew. Maybe he steers-Lanikai but he will steer M2.

Also is Jimmy Austin more valuable steering of in seat 3 or 4?

there is a rally this saturday 2/20 from 10:00-12:00 at haleiwa harbor to bring awareness to the community about the shark feeding tours going on outside haleiwa. we did such a good job on the south shore, lets all help out the north shore and have a great showing. it is still illegal to feed sharks, doesnt matter if these tours are 3 miles or 50 miles out. its a state and federal law that you can not feed sharks. but hey...no enforcement...no law !

Thursday night an OC1 was washed ashore at Kalapawai Buoy.
The boat had been damaged by a whale a few hours earlier.
Some guys saw it, but did not pick it up right away, later is was not there anymore.
They asked us to post here on ocpaddler.

In case you know about the whereabouts of the canoe, you may want to post it here, so that it can be returned to the owner.
