Kalua Turkey Fundraiser 2009

Nov 25 2009 4:00 pm
Nov 26 2009 9:00 pm
Etc/GMT-10
Event Description:

Keahiakahoe Canoe Club is proud to announce their Annual Kalua Turkey Fundraiser to be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2009. Tired of plain baked or deep fried turkey? Take the guess work out of testing your turkey for the optimal temperature, and let us do the work with a refreshing twist on the Thanksgiving feast. Kalua Turkey is a delectable treat when cooked in a traditional “imu.” This is quickly becoming a time honored tradition and space is limited.

This years Kalua Turkey Fundraiser will start on Wednesday November 25, 2009 with turkey drop-off between 4:00 – 5:30pm at Kahalu’u Beach Park (our practice site) located across from Kahalu’u District Park. All turkeys must be thawed, seasoned and wrapped in aluminum foil at least three times to keep the juices in and the turkey moist. (No foil pans please!) The turkeys will then be roasted in the imu over night. Turkey pick-up will be the following morning on Thursday November 26, 2009 from 9:00 – 11:00am at Kahalu’u Beach Park once again. Please bring a foil pan for pick-up as the turkeys will still be HOT.

And we don’t discriminate on the size of the turkey either. 5lbs or 15lbs, what ever suits your family, all are welcome. Purchase of your pre-sale ticket doesn’t limit you to only turkeys. In past years, we’ve roasted Pork, Laulaus, and Palusami. What ever your heart desires and imagination can think up. Tickets are $15 per turkey / dish and proceeds will go toward refurbishing our aging koa canoe “Keolahouomaeha’apiti.” As an added special, you can also purchase two tickets for $25. We are delighted to provide this type of service and welcome all participants to “our Kahalu’u.”

For more information and tickets contact:
Stan Dickson @ (808) 222-5975 or
Gilbert Silva @ (808) 348-3359

Come join us in our fundraising effort and let's make waves!
