Has anyone (of you folks) ever put an OC-1 in from the Hamakua coast past Onomea for a run back to Hilo Bay? Lapahoehoe would be a pretty long paddle, but could be done. I wonder if anyone has launched from Hakalau, Kole Kole, or Papaikou? If so, how'd it go? How was your run?
Just to let you folks know, there was a 12' tiger shark sighted cruising around Honoli'i yesterday and along the Hilo/Hamakua coast, 20 Jan'10. I guess that explains why I didn't see anyone in the water as I paddled by!
MCKC (Maui Canoe and Kayak Club) is proud to present a new sponsor and a new race!!! The Maui Brewing Co. North Shore Challenge. The long course starts at Honomanu Bay, just before Keanae, and short course starts at Maliko Gulch. Both end at Kahului Harbor in front of Hawaiian Canoe Club. With the proper conditions this is a really fun downwind course and is good a training run for those preparing for the Moloka`i Solo.
lauren bartlett won the 27km surf ski race called ' the doctor' in western australia on saturday 1/16. she finished in 1:25:38 and was 48th overall. second woman was aussie kirsty holmes in 1:26:03.
Anyone want to come paddle and do a run from inside the Ala wai by Hui Lankila to the buoy or windsock and back. Monday to Friday at about 3:30. It would be fun.
Aloha.....
I hear there are two OC1 Molokai crossing championships? Could someone please explain the difference between the two ? Is there a state and then an International version? Thank you.
