This paddle has a Zaveral PowerSurge blade , weighing approx l5-16 ounces. A laminated wood shaft gives the paddle nice flex, with wood feel!! These are incredibly nice paddling, great feeling blades, and very suitable options to all carbon paddles -- the extra weight is all in your hands, and the blade, which is the lightest part, is the same as a carbon paddle -- and that means it has the same 'swing' weight -- which means it is no more burden than a regular carbon paddle. The blade has a foam core, with carbon skin. WHat's the diff between this and the regular Outrigger Hybrid paddle? The blade is a bit more aggressive, with more of a lip or 'spoon', and a fairly pronounced spine; so it pulls itself into the water with a real nice catch. The advantage of a blade like this is that it anchors itself more quickly than a regular blade -- and anchoring the blade is the most critical aspect of the stroke. The blade has a spine on the powerface (push side) and this helps stabilize the blade. This is a very popular, aggressive paddle! 12 degrees at blade. Outrigger blades 8.75 -9.5" wide.
