Just after opinions as to what people have found beneficial. I paddle OC6, and OC1 and was wondering "if I could have one only, would a stand up paddle board or a ski give the best performance gains for my OC paddling"
Or should I just spend all my time on my OC1 and in an OC6.

Anybody listening to music on the water? I started bringing a waterproof shuffle on board with me for long pieces in the one man, I'll probably do it during races too (volume low-med so I can still hear everyone passing me). I think it makes me a better paddler - not as much quiet time alone with my thoughts.

Any club have a standard thunderstorm standard operating procedure? On the West Coast they really don't know what thunderstorms are.

Sure don't go out in a thunderstorm, but there are times when one just whirls up on you.

Anyone ever seen a buoy that's been struck by lightning? Seems it ought to be common, but it isn't. The great fear is in the open ocean that which floats and rises above sea level will attract lightning, but...

Greetings all!

I had the pleasure to paddle with Jeff (jfirkin) tonight for our weekly group paddle- we are a group of Jersey surfski paddlers. It was very cool to add another member to our group- and I now relize how simalar our crafts are- speed and the desire to catch waves!

In the OC 1 Performance Survey a few posters have posted " excellent " for flat water performance AND for big water performance for the Scorpius and also Pueo.

This may be enthusiasm with regard to relatively new models; on the other hand it may be that recent design improvements are able to balance flat AND big water performance.

What do you think ? - Do recent OC 1 models perform better in a wider range of conditions ?
