Respraying gelcoat

Ihave a old Bluewater Kevlar 49 canoe . The canoe sit outside for years in the sun before I got it .The gelcoat is gone but the kevlar and body is good . What prep work needs to be done to the kevlar prior to spraying and is there anything else that needs to be done after spraying.
Thanks .

Opinion Review OC 1 - Zephyr vs Fusion

Just posted with comment.
http://www.oc1design.blogspot.com
Gives you a good idea of what the Zephyr does.

The rating for 'steering' on the Zephyr is slightly lower. I know that the Fusion steers extremely well.
Is this just a fluke ? Is there an explanation due to design changes ?

New Paddler

Aloha,
Can someone tell me when and where the Canoe Club meets, I am new here and would like to paddle!
If anyone has any contact information I would really appreciate it! Mahalo! and God Bless

Opinions: Pueo vs Fuze - Survey data posted.

the Pueo versus Fuze chart has been posted on my blog. http://www.oc1design.blogspot.com

I am not sure about the displacement volume of either boat - they may target different weight paddlers ?

PS: please mind that just 6 paddlers rated the Fuze; if more paddlers were to post, the result might differ; consider it a trend.

Comments/opinions are welcome

Beautiful Day to Try 16 OC-1s

Taking an idea from Ocean PaddleSport's "Beautiful Day to Try 16 Skis", I thought it would be great to have a day when interested paddlers can converge at some beach to try all the OC-1 models available in Hawai'i. What would it take to make this a real possibility? Would the various OC-1 distributors be supportive of this idea? Perhaps a week or two after the Moloka'i Hoe? Anyone else interested in seeing this happen?

Think Legend

After reading the other thread about cross training and seeing how many of you seem to also surfski , I was wondering if you had any feedback yet regarding the chined Think Legend .

I`ve already read all the forum posts on surfski.info. but would like to hear some feedback from some other sources.

This boat has chines that make the ones on OC canoes look nonexistant.

Opinions: OC 1 Performance Comparison Hurricane Versus Pegasus

Just published on the blog:
OutriggerCanoe Design
http://www.oc1design.blogspot.com

Comments on the chart:

  • one paddler rated his Pegasus low in big conditions.
If anybody familiar with that boat could comment on that - I thought it had a god name in big conditions, maybe that is not so.
  • set-up/rigging is rated a little lower for the Pegasus. I think there may have been(?) an issue with getting the iakus into their slots - not always easy.

Music and War On Water

It just seemed a natural progression to combine these threads.

What do you listen to -- in the way of music -- when you are at war on water?

I like the soundtrack to "Victory at Sea" (especially "Beneath the Southern Cross"), Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries," "Axel's Theme," Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff, " the soundtrack to "Das Boot," any sea chantey by the Clancy Brothers, most stuff by Jimmy Buffett, and the theme to Conan the Barbarian.

That guy who rammed Rambo's stern was boxed in. His maneuverability was about nil.
