Waikoloa Race - what is the distance?

Our team is thinking about the entering the Waikoloa race prior to the Queen Lili'uokalani race. I can't seem to find any information on the distance of the Waikoloa. It would be helpful to know how far we would need to paddle to decide whether we're up for it or whether we need to stay rested for the Queen Lili'uokalani race.

West Maui - Need to get my OC-1 to Haycraft for Championship Race

Hey there West Maui paddlers. I need help getting my OC-1 from Canoe Beach (Kaanapali) to Haycraft for the Maui Canoe and Kayak Championship race this Saturday, March 30.

I'm wondering if anyone has a spare roof rack going that way that I could load my boat onto. I have straps. I could meet you at Canoe Beach anytime friday or saturday morning (or whatever works for you). My boat's only going the one way (it's being picked up by someone else after the race). I've got my own vehicle.

I'd offer my usual bribes - gas money, sexual favours, or beer....

Hinano Kialoa Coastal Relay course reversal?

Forecast is South South West wind 15 knots for this afternoon and tomorrow. There is a possibility that we may reverse the course. We're going to see what the wind really is doing this evening and update. So pass the word and check this evening for updates. We'll post on kanakaikaika.com/'FORUM as well as again here.

Tahiti Nui Va'a - form a team

The race organizers of the Tahiti Nui Va'a want to help YOU bring a team. I bet there are 12 - 15 paddlers out there that can't quite either make it to Hawaii to tryout for the Kanaka Ikaika team or can't make the team, but still want to race the race, but have no clue how to make it happen. If that is you, chime back in and see how many chime in. Let's build a crew and I'll help lead you there with my connections in Tahiti. This is every other year and will be worth every penny spent.

Kanaka Ikaika Outrigger Zone Race #5 update

Sunday's weather forecast looks like today's: windy with wind swell. We are monitoring the water conditions off Kailua and will make a final determination Sunday morning. I plan to get on the water tomorrow and will update again tomorrow night - Saturday. But as it stands right now, we will have a course inside Kailua Bay that will start between Kalapawai and Flag Pole heading towards Lanikai. It will run to the edge of Lanikai reef near Cabbage patch and back into Kailua Bay near Jump City, then back to the beach park. Long course will do this twice.

Kanaka Ikaika Race #3 update: KAHANA BAY Feb. 02

There is confusion regarding what course is happening this weekend, Feb. 02. I apologize we did change the schedule from what was printed on the post cards and in Pacific Paddler. We swapped the dates for the Outrigger Zone Kailua Challenge for the Haleiwa Joe's Kahana Bay race. Pinky's is going to host the Outrigger Zone Kailua race so we didn't want to run the same course territory back to back. Pass the word.
