I was wondering if anyone had some ideas about how to pad pvc canoe stands. I made some in the X form (1 inch pvc), and have been using pipe insulation, but it tends to split, spin around the pipe, and look messy. Any other suggestions to cover/pad the places where the canoe touches the stands?

The Outrigger Zone Kailua Bay Challenge lived up to the challenge: 20 - 25 mph winds and a solid 8 foot ground swell made for some exciting moments in the tumultuous Kailua water. The race was supposed to Start at Pinky's restaurant at the end of Kailua bay. However, the swell would have mulched half the field as they tried to navigate through Castle's. So the race started off Kailua Beach Park and traveled into Lanikai for near 2 miles. At Sandbag beach they paddlers rounded a buoy and went out past the Mokulua Islands to Mokolea Rock (Bird Shit Island).

Sunday's weather forecast looks like today's: windy with wind swell. We are monitoring the water conditions off Kailua and will make a final determination Sunday morning. I plan to get on the water tomorrow and will update again tomorrow night - Saturday. But as it stands right now, we will have a course inside Kailua Bay that will start between Kalapawai and Flag Pole heading towards Lanikai. It will run to the edge of Lanikai reef near Cabbage patch and back into Kailua Bay near Jump City, then back to the beach park. Long course will do this twice.
