OC6 security

Hi,
I'd like to learn from your experience on OC6 safety issues.
I mean : On this forum, there's a lot of very skilled paddlers, going on rough seas, and I'm willing to understand.
When paddling OC6, did you ever run in some major safety issue while capsizing ? Like total OC flooding ? Impossibility to tow the boat or just bail out ?
rigging breaking ?
In my tiny experience, the amount of buoyancy in the bow, stern and ama was enough to secure the boat and crew.
Anyway, do skilled crews ever capsize at all ? :-)

garmin forerunner 310xt vs...

Folks,

I have been using a garmin forerunner 310xt for a few years now. I bought it REI because, after reading about the 310xt on this site, I believed that the "waterproof-ness" of the unit would wear off ;-0. Sure enough, over the 3 year period, I have taken the 310xt back to REI for 2 replacements.

Makana Ali'i Revarnishing

Can anyone give me good insight and instruction on how to revarnish my Makana Ali'i paddle or know of any professionals who can revarnish paddles on the island of Oahu? Something to note about my paddle is i have a small crack at the bottom of my shaft (from cranking those unis) and i heard some people use carbon cloth on the area to prevent future spreading of the crack. Any advice?

Seeking advice on upwind on high frequency wind-powered waves Bay Area, California

Seeking advice on upwinds:

On the windy days, the bumps I paddle in the Bay Area (California) are no more than 3-10 feet apart from each other and have a very high frequency of hitting my boat while going upwind. Vertically they range from 1-3 feet. I want to ask for opinions of paddling upwind on water that is strictly windpowered. I do not have much experience on "swells." The craziest day I went out had 30mph winds with bumps that were about 3-4feet high and huli'ed 3 times as it picked up my ama.. It was pretty scary when the waves + wind comes from the front left.

RIP Rick Appleton

One of Guam's foremost paddlers and coaches passed away on Friday May 25, 2012. Rick was an exuberant promoter of paddling, introducing scores of people to outrigger canoeing on Guam. He was also a prominent race promoter, initiating the Heineken Cup on Guam in the mid 2000's and coordinating the MOC-1, Marianas OC-1 series of OC-1 and OC-2 races on Guam for the last 10 years. Rick will be sorely missed here on Guam and around the region, especially by his wife and family.

LOST: Clear Drybag and Black Paddlebag @ 'Eono Hoe

Did someone accidentally pick up off Kalua Koi beach and load onto one of the escort boats a clear drybag and a black paddlebag with 3 paddles in it. If anyone knows where these two items are I would be super grateful if you would call me at 864-0460 or email me at clifft604@aol.com
Aloha,
