Featuring some of the best OC-1 Paddlers in the State!

Keokea Beach Park to the Old Kohala Coast Guard Station (next to Puakea Bay Ranch)
Race Course is approximately 11 miles
*Race Directors will determine a paddler's eligibility for the race based upon the race conditions and the paddler's skill level (DON'T FORGET YOUR LEASH!)

Race Entry Fee: $25 per paddler
Proceeds of the race will benefit the Abood Family to aid in Jessica's leukemia treatment

Race Registration starts at 8 a.m. at the Coast Guard Station
Race Meeting at 10:00 a.m. at Keokea Beach Park and race will start shortly thereafter
Lunch and Awards will be held after the race at the Coast Guard Station lawn

Kohala Coast Challenge Results

The best attended race of the season took place today at Kawaihae - the 12th Annual Kohala Coast Challenge, put on by Beanie Heen and Frank Snow. The beautiful race shirts designed by Frank Snow, and given to every paid entrant, always makes this event popular.

Felix Rabanal, April Hocson win Keauhou Kuuipo Race

Results of Keauhou Canoe Club's Kuuipo Race, held today in memory of Eda Hinchcliff, a longtime HIPA and Keauhou paddler who passed away two years ago. Held at beautiful Keauhou Bay, the first event of the day was a 4 mile course from Keauhou to Kahaluu and back for the 25 Junior paddlers and 2 Paddleboard entries, which was the best turnout and most competition for the Juniors yet this season. The kids all proudly wore their ribbons and medals they won for this race today.

Pohoiki Challenge, HIPA race 4 results

Results of Kamaili Orchids Pohoiki Challenge held today in Puna District of the Big Island. Both short and long courses started and finished at the Pohoiki Boat Ramp with the short course paddlers covering 6.5 miles, and the long course running south for 5 miles and returning to Pohoiki for a total of 10 miles. The traditional post race feast, dancing, bocce ball match and awards were held at the O'Shaughnessy's property at Kalapana, where a number of paddlers camped overnight, to be able to continue the party.

Cheryl's Valentine Relay results, Feb 11th

With 144 paddlers on the course, and categories ranging from Couples (married or otherwise), I Couldn't Get a Date (2 men or 2 women), It's All About Me (solo paddlers), and of course the ever popular, First Time Paddle Date, plus 3 separate age group divisions for each category, there were many winners and lots of splits to figure out.

Thibert Lussia, April Hocson win O'Shaughnessy's race

Results of today's 3rd HIPA race of the 2006 season. The O'Shaughnessy's Puna Challenge saw the paddlers entering the water at Richardson's Beach Park in Keaukaha, and the short course entries paddled 6 miles directly to Hilo's Bayfront, while the long course went south for 2 miles before turning and finishing at Puna's halau at Bayfront after paddling 10 miles. The long and short courses were followed by a 4 mile race for Junior paddlers.

Uncle Louie Kumukahi Kelekolio Race Results

HIPA's second event of the 2006 season, the 20th running of Keoua Canoe Club's race, dedicated to the memory of Uncle Louie Kumukahi Kelekolio, took place today at Honaunau. The day started with a special 2 mile kids' event, won by the two man team of Chase Von Nordheim and Sayer Palakilo.

Nick Agorastos, Cherisse Kelii win 19th Stan Cann Classic

Results of the first HIPA race of the 2006 season, the 19th running of the Stan Cann Classic. The day began with a Juniors race, followed by the 4 mile short course which ran up the coast from Hilo Bay and returned to Bayfront and Kamehameha Canoe Club's halau.
