Weightlifting

Is it really good for anything? I tried it yesterday, and now I'm all sore, and NOT any faster.

What a waste of time...

Jinli composites

Is this disturbing to any of you guys?

shortening iakos

Anyone shorten their iakos? Particularly on a Zephyr? Im looking to "lighten" my ama but not so much make the boat "tippier". Thoughts??

Drag Reduction Research in Sport

Just thought this was interesting and perhaps can be applied to canoes as well...

NASA Langley Research Center who conducts drag reduction wind tunnel studies on aircrafts and boats for decades got involved with studies in fabrics for swimsuits.

Speedo's used the results of these studies to incorporate new manufacture methods for the new swimsuits for the U.S. Swimmers. Called "Laser Racer", these swimsuits were made using ultrasonic welding and reduces drag in the water by 10%, allowing athletes to go 2% faster. To date, the new suits have contributed to 17 world records....

tahitians moloka'i video

Anyone out there know where I can find that video of the tahitians doing the Moloka'i Hoe. I think it was of the 2006 race. I saw it on one of the discussions, but can't seem to find it. Its a cool video, something like 40 minutes long.

new to OCPADDLER, new to OC1 ...

Hello,

GPS Live Tracking at Durban

I just noticed someone setup GPS live tracking of athletes racing in the Durban Surfski World Cup 2008 on the website: http://spectator.sport-track.com/spec/start.php?id=5601&raceid=9221

By the time you read this, the race will prbs be over. I don't know if anyone else saw this as the race was taking place tonight, Hawaii time but here is a screenshot of the live web tracking of race participants and the time gap between the leader and the rest of the participants.

I don't know if this has been done for the Moloka'i Hoe or the na Wahine o ke Kai, but it would be a nice tool to have for the live coverage!
