Paddle From the Heart race photos and results from the April 22, 2007 benefit for Mike Tongg are viewable at http://www.anuenuecanoeclub.org. Photographers Peter Caldwell and Jeff Pfeffer are willing to give the high res images for free but suggest a donation be made to Mike.

Here is a brief description:
The Mayor’s Cup New York City Kayak Championship is an elite kayaking race around Manhattan Island. This 26.7 mile marathon race is North America’s premier paddle sports event and soon to be New York City’s largest water event. The Mayor’s Cup will draw some of the world’s and the regions most accomplished paddlers while raising money and awareness for the region’s most vigilant environmental group Riverkeeper. This event has elite classes as well as enthusiast classes and all talented paddlers are welcome to participate.

During my nearly thirty years of organized outrigger paddling, I have seen and heard about a wide spectrum of paddling techniques, everything from full-on tits to the gunwale 70s no tee-top style to to the quickest upright marathon stroke, and I was wondering, what is the definitive outrigger paddling technique? Is there one? Don't be shy. Mahalo, Jim.

Earth Day activities have winded down, Kokua Festival is pau, but as paddlers continually rewarded by the bounty of the sea, let us continue our support toward our Mother Ocean.
