Steerer's - lighter but weaker or stronger but heavier????

First time poster, long time reader. Here is a scenario I would like to put to the paddling gurus for your comment/input on the matter. A club team made up of highly competitive guys within the group are starting to make inroads into their regional competitive. However, they are faced with the unusual scenario of having to pick the best team to be competitive. This applies in particular to the steerer position, where the team can pick from either someone whom has heaps of experience but is the weakest paddler of the team or someone whom is heavier, not as experienced but is as strong as everyone else in the team. So who would you guys choose and why? Lighter but weaker or stronger but heavier?

Who is the most dominate paddler in the sport in both 6 man as well as one man

This should be a good one speak your mind and dont be scared or biast for your homies . Who would be the # 1 pick of all open men paddlers to build a world champ ? I would make a case for Danny Ching , lets face it California isnt known for spitting out world class paddlers . All the while Danny has these cross over atheletes and not the youngest guys smashing most of the field in some big races . Danny you are my fist pick you are the Kobe of paddling the best all around paddler in the US . Karel and Kai dont want none in a sprint or in the flat and to be honest if he spent as much time in the surf as those two we might be looking at that "elite" group differently . What about Manutea Owens or Luis Laughlin or Kea Pai'aina shall we draft ? Outrigger should be able to pay the most or maybe Tui Tonga could offer a major contract offer LOL !!!

Tacoma Racks

Anybody know some Fabricators in hawaii who make custom truck racks for Toyota tacoma 2005 model??? Dont want like the look of the trac-rac. Having a hard time because of the bed rail system. Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Maui to Molokai OC6 Race

Wouldn't it be cool for an OC6 canoe race from Flemmings Beach on Maui to Kaunakakai? I think there will be a race before the Na Wahine O Ke Kai. It would be the first race of its kind and would be a lot of surfing.I know the some crews would might be afraid of racing outside of there comfort coarses . It is becoming one of the premiere race courses in all of paddling and potentually could become a major pre-curser to the Molokai Hoe .Plus bringing all the boats to Molokai a week before the Wahine race could be the making of an awesome event . What do you guys think ?

I NEED SOME DRILLS

CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT WITH SOME DRILLS? I WANT TO BE ABLE TO HELP COACH MY HIGHSCHOOL PADDLING TEAM. I HAVENT PADDLED IN 2 YEARs NOW CUZ IM STUCK HERE IN IRAQ AND WONT BE COMMING HOME UNTILL OCTOBER. IM 21 YEARS OLD AND MY DREAM WAS ALWAYS TO BE A COACH FOR A PADDLING TEAM.

Cash prices - yes or no?

On yahoo-outrigger is an interesting discussion about cash prize money, there about the men/women thing. It got me thinking about cash prizes in general.

Hawaiian outrigger paddling is competetive, but mostly about tradition, ohana, luau, all generations on the beach together during regatta days etc..

The winners get a present and the recognition, the traditional T-shirt, the meal is the recognition for all participants.

Cash prizes - yes or no, good or bad, refuse or accept ... ?
