Hammo Cup OC6 42km

Its been run and won in dreary conditions Team Tiger (Greg Long,Andrew Neil ,Woogie Marsh,Peter Scott ......and 5 others...)has finished first ,well clear of the chasers. Hawaii/NZ placing 2nd after overtaking Gold Coast club team Northcliffe in the final kilometers ,Mooloolaba Open 4th after Overtaking New Caledonia and Sydney crew Northern Beaches on the return from Pentecost .

I have heard Moolooolaba masters are running 7th overall and will win that division ,also Lisa Curry-Kenny's Mooloolaba crew are well clear of the pack in Open Women

81 crews started the 24th Hamilton Island Cup ,Still The Worlds Richest Outrigger Canoe race..

Hamilton Island Regatta Australia OC1 Results

News from the Hamilton Island regatta in Australia - Kai Bartlett won the 16km OC1 race convincingly followed by Karel, then Greg Long of Australia in third. The race was 8km into 20 knots of wind then surfing back with it to the finish.

Also trying to track down Alfred VG just to say a big thanks for your hospitality on Molokai. My wife and I really appreciated it. If you ever come down under drop me a line. By the way, that solo race was a killer!

Stroke Rate

In a six man distance race, what should the target stroke rate be? I have seen some crews try to set down in the 50s and other crews try to target 70. In your reply, include club name so that I can guage the response by the success of your club.

Who is this legend Eckhart?

And how does he know so much so suddenly?

I was just wondering?

Headwind versus canoe speed?

What kind of relationship does headwind have versus canoe (OC-6) speed? E.g. if you are paddling into a 15mph / 24kph headwind, how much slower would you be going compared to no headwind?

Who is the best steersman of all time ?

Im going with my heros Jim and John Foti . Those two have switched off steers duties on there way to a resume not many can touch .Having those guys is a great asset for Lanikai and Kailua .Jim and Jon should be first vote Hall of Famers and they probably played a major role in the development of Karel Jr as a teenager .Ultimately Karel wiil go down as the best of all time although Tahiti might beg to differ ? Lewis Laughlin Is another that I would speak of in that context . Show some love for your all time seat six !!!!
