As I reflect about Tommy Conners and the impact he had on the sport, I keep going back to the other legendary "game-changers." There have been a small handful of people who literally changed the course of outrigger canoeing. Tommy, through his work on the development of the OC-1 and connections with Tahiti, is definitely one of them. Who else changed the face of outrigger canoeing?

I would be really interested to hear input (especially from some of the 'old-timers') on who has changed the face of paddling.

I got a 2009 Toyota Tacoma and need to get my boat to my local downwind spot. Need a good value $ rack system. What are you guys using? I will only use this to transport mine, and a buddies canoe.

Hey everyone,
Last time we were in Hawaii I saw a lot of OC-1 paddlers and I thought it looked like a lot of fun. I'm an avid whitewater paddler and have done a fair amount of SUP as well. We're heading to the Big Island next week and I'd really like to give OC-1 a try. Any ideas on where I might be able to rent one? I've looked up local clubs, but am not really sure where to start. We'll be staying near Waikoloa.

I heard Tommy Connor has passed away. Maybe not everyone knew who this great paddler was, but he was certainly among the greatest in in local scene, and I belive the winner of 11 Molokai Hoe, including his last victory w/ Faaa from Tahiti in 1994 at something like age 50, an unparallleled feat to my knowledge. Anyway, I post this to pay homage to the man as the paddling world mourns the passing of one its most brilliant stars. Apologies if any of my information is wrong, I heard this just now from a mutual friend.

Does anyone know whether the M2M (Maui to Molokai) race on April 13 is going to happen? We've been hearing rumors it may be cancelled. Anyone know anything that they can share with those who already have made travel plans to be there? Just hearing second hand info at this time. Thanks for any input...
