The Catch

Aloha all,

Ali'i Challenge - how realistic?

Our senior masters women's team will be paddling in the Queen Liliuokalani race this summer. We are training hard and really stoked about this race however most of us are somewhat inexperienced when it comes to races of this magnitude. A few of our crew has expressed interest in signing up for the Ali'i Challenge which is a fun event that is offered a couple of days after the Queen Lili.

Pa'a Relay updates

Hello Gang,

I'm getting text updates from Danny Ching today. As I receive them, I will attempt to post them to the OCPaddler forum.

First change. Us, Kai & Pat; Daniel and Kua. 3 way tie.

Lost Paddles at KWC/Salt Pond Park, Kauai

hello everyone.. I did the KWC race last Saturday and left my Pure double-bend, and a Makana Alii (two blades) at Salt Pond park afterwards. I'm pretty sick about leaving them behind as they are my favourite blades and very hard to replace.

They were left near the Kamanu boat trailer, and were gone when I went back later that day. If anyone has any info on what may have happened to them please let me know.

Many thanks..

Molokai Relay

Not too much talk about this weekend's event. Usually by now there are favorite teams being talked about. My guess is that the predicted weather has put a bit of a damper on the discussions.

gps

Any recommendations for wrist type GPS. Mainly for measuring distance and speed

KWC 2013 photos

Waiting Periods for outrigger?

kinda like they do for surf competitions.

Obviously this isn’t for every race, but it seems reasonable to have a few days to choose from for these pinnacle channel crossings.  Its just that, paddlers are getting skunked – a lot.  SW headwinds have plagued the Hoe, Maui-Molokai solo, Molo Solo and yep you guessed it – on schedule to return just in time for this Sunday’s Molokai relay.

The best paddlers, the best conditions --- for the championship.
Isn’t that what everyone wants?
