Myself and my husband are both paddlers who paddle with a club here in Nor Cal and are heading over to Maui for vacation. We'd like to continue to paddle while we're on the island and were wondering what our options might be. Are there any local clubs who would let us paddle with them? Any places you'd recommend that rent out OC1 or OC2?

This off season I am trying Crossfit as my off season training program. My main goal is to get in shape for distance season. What I have notice so far (2 weeks in the program) is a very high intensity, at times anaerobic short work outs. Major focus on core muscle groups and high heart rate. Instinctively I feel like I am improving as an athlete, but not sure how this will translate when OC-6 distance season starts.

The Marlin Coast Challenge is an OC1/ OC2 Outrigger 38km Relay and Iron Race from Ellis Beach to Port Douglas in Cairns Nth Qld. Based on the Famous Kauai Coastal Challenge with beach changeovers. Some big names from down South raced this year, Woogie Marsh, Travis Grant, Chris Maynard, Toddy Cohen, Pete Dorries, Amanda Ozolins and Belinda O'Sullivan for the women. - Plus some awesome locals as well. Check it out, tough bloody race with a sad ending.

I Have no experience in rudderless but paddled OC1's for 15 years in AUS. I have been looking at paddles variations for VAA ruderless paddling. I have noticed alot of double bend larger paddles. Are there any preferrences or does it come down to location and history of the sport ? or the paddler preference. i have never paddled one and there are not any VAA's where i live.So no chance to trial different canoes. ANY advice welcome.
