Bondi to Watsons Bay - Race3 Vajda OceanSeries

The VAJDA Sponsored Bondi to Watsons Bay Race is a picturesque paddle past the Bondi Heads and Cliffs to Watsons Bay just inside the Harbor Entrance. Attracting almost 300 paddlers, it's one of the most popular races in the lead up to the iconic 20 Beaches Race.

Olympic Canoe Racers

We have kayak paddlers from Hawaii competing right now in the Pan American Games, I wonder why we don't have Olympic canoe paddlers from Hawaii competing in these games? I would think that Hawaii would be well represented with this form of high knee style of paddling with a single blade and mono hull? The last time I checked, the boats and paddles are available, just no paddlers? Maybe if the seat and ama are removed from a V1 and a pad installed, it might work? Anybody tried kneeling down in a V1?

The cost of doing Molokai Hoe

Aloha,

I write this just to share information and not to complain.

I know for many national and international crews doing the Molokai Hoe is a dream, and it takes a lot of planning. I am sharing this information to help crews plan ahead and be aware of some of the costs, as of this year. This is also from talking to 5 other teams

Of course these prices vary depending on several factors, and I am hoping others will share their information.

'O Na Moi 'Ehukai Race Fundraiser

Aloha,
I wanted to thank everyone for coming out and supporting our race/fundraiser. We hope you all had a good time, hope the food, prizes, cost, shirts, course, entertainment, etc was all good enough to bring you back to our next event, sometime next year. All the parents and keiki were extremely happy, especially when the canoes were coming into shore with the Tahitian drum and the pu blowing.

Any and all thoughts to improve is welcome and encouraged.

Mahalo nui,
Dean Hirahara

Blue Makua Race results?

Any one got the results from that Blue Maku race?

RIP Keith Williams

I was very sad to hear of the passing of Keith Williams this morning. Keith was the owner and builder of Hamilton Island and the creator of the Hamilton Cup event.

Keith and his mate Max Christmas bought the first Malia OC6 canoe from Hawaii to Australia in the 1980s and started the sport of outrigging here in Australia.

Keith also bought the first Classic (Hawaiaan Class Racer) OC6 to Australia and paid for the first Hawaiian crews to come and race in Australia at the Hamilton Cup.

Keith was a true visionary and the sport in Australia has a lot to thank him for.

OC6 and Pa`a Winter Series

I just noticed that the Paa Winter Series has OC6 categories for six of the races (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Toys for Tots, Holiday Burnoff, Pinky's, and Luv 2morrow). Is this new - or have I just been oblivious? It sounds like a fun series for our recreation-season paddlers to get involved with.
