Am looking at an older Hurricane. Could someone tell me what the correct positions e.g. open and closed, are on the deck vent near the rudder. Thanks much. JR
Renting an OC-6 form a club in Maui for Pailolo and Molokai Hoe. They just sent rental contract indicating that we need to get insurance to cover replacement cost of canoe.
Does anyone know if single event insurance can be purchased and where?

Hi ,
I am looking for an oc1 for the Queen lili OC1 race which is a 10 km race. I am a male paddler . 36 years old. Please message me if you can or know anyone keen rent an oc1 for me (with the rental price). I have done a couple of big water races before. It doesn't have to be an high end canoe , just want to do the race.
A few years back I remember a paddle sports store in Hawaii advertising an ama rack or set of fasteners. Is anyone still selling that sort of thing? I think it used a bit of stretchable rubber to hold the ama on tight.
I noticed the upcoming IVF championships will be using a canoe built by Fai Va'a. It is a fibreglass construction and I believe it will weigh around 280 lbs. I'm curious if anyone has experience in this canoe and is willing to share his/her impressions.
On flat water, my canoe (Kahe kai) is fast and it’s rare for me to huli. I don’t find myself leaning towards the ama as I paddle.
In open ocean (2’-3’ seas), I tend to lean towards the ama to avoid a huli, of course even more so when I am paddling on the right side. I'm 215 lbs. and rig the ama heavy.
After a lot of online searching, there really is not a single good source of how and when the Lightning was developed. There are a lot of old threads about Lightning vs. Mirage but that doesn't really help give us background info. The Lightning's performance history in the Kai'wi Channel is definitely clear, but if any of you have insight that can contribute to developing the background history on this canoe, it would be appreciated!
