I'm looking into buying an older Hurricane (about 4 years old). It has the moulded seat as opposed to the foam seat that the new Hurricanes have. Does anyone know if this vintage canoe would have been built in Hawaii or China?

Heard today that the use of Viper paddles will create fines and disqualifications for crews using them in OHCRA races. What? Bamboo hollow shafts...carbon blades vesus wood shafts and a sliver of balsa covered with carbon.

We are looking to purchase an OC-2 for recreational paddling and we have it narrowed down to the Tempest and the V2-X. Any comments on the pro's and con's of each would be appreciated.

Our use will be the NY Harbor, LI Sound and Jersey Shore areas, primarily recreation paddling for a couple in their 50's and 60's rather than racing. The idea is to get out on the water together in an outrigger. Stability afloat, sitting position (OC-2's vs what we are used to in OC-6's), structural durability and ease of transport are all areas of concern.

Anyone know best way to ship an OC-1 from the Big Island to Oahu. I know Young Bros does. Any others? Do you have to crate it? Any info would be much appreciated.

Hey Kids, I was looking for some cradles for my OC-1. No luck on Craigslist and didn't want to spend a ton. I liked the Thule Glide and Set 883 but it was $200+ everywhere. After some Googling I discovered for some reason the set is sold through Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealers for half (same EXACT KIT, incl straps etc)!?! Mopar part# TCKAY883 and lists for $135 at the dealership. Best deal I found was at Quirk Parts, $121.54 incl 3 day shipping to Oahu! Just installed it. Nice kit.
