Canoe cover

I have a 4-man canoe that I leave on the beach on the east coast, US. I don't have..and can't build any structure to cover the boat (it's city owned beach and they won't allow). I am trying to have a tight canvas made for the canoe to primarily protect it from the sun. The two canvas fitters are trying to talk me into placing snaps along the gunnel for a tight fitting cover. I agree it would be best fit...but I am shooting for straps which run under the canoe (it would be a bitch to do water changes and rub your chest along a snap). What type of covers do some of you guys use? Could you send pix? They're certainly not cheap. I want to get something that's going to last..hold up to the elements (wind, rain, etc.), be easy on/easy off, and not damage the canoe. Thanks.

Scorpius vs. Pegasus

Anybody got any insight as to how these two boats compare...flat water and surf.

Have heard that Pegasus is extremely manuverable...almost twitchy...Scporpius too?

Is Scorpius much bigger?

OC1 OC6 in Florida Panhandle?

Aloha,
I'm visiting from Maui Hawaii where I paddle and Coach at Hawaiian Canoe Club. I was wondering if anyone in the Gulf Coast paddles OC1 and wouldn't minde taking me out for a lil paddle while i'm down here? We are in full swing of regatta season back home and it would be good to paddle a little bit if i would while i'm away? 808-283-2470 Tim Lara

Ladder Training for Pull-ups

I'm not sure how many canoe clubs actually have pull-up tests but here is a pull-up training exercise idea for those who haven't done this before to help increase your pull-up max reps count and overall muscular endurance - great for distance prep - climbing into da canoe.

"Ladder Training" aka Pyramids

Starting at one rep with increments of 1, do as many pull-ups as you can then go back down to one in decrements of 1.

For example, if your max reps is 7:
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,6,5,4,3,2,1
(perform 1 rep, rest, perform 2 reps, rest, perform 3 reps, rest etc.)

If doing with a partner, you would alternate at each increment.

For paddling, modify the standard pull-up to finish at chest rather than chin.

Just another training idea ~

Someone renting Pueo on O'ahu?

I'm visiting the folks in Kailua. I recall someone posted a while back about day renting Pueos. Does this sound familiar? Anyone got a contact or a lead on the particular post for me? I'd like to get in a paddle while I'm visiting.

Mahalo for any help.
